License Requirements

How do you get into the Real Estate business?

All real estate sales people are licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.  The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission [PA REC] requires two specific courses be taken.  They are Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practices. The courses must be taken at a state certified real estate school or institution.  You can click on to our real estate school affiliate website to check on dates, times and place of next available classes.  These classes are subject to change based on enrollment, so it is advisable to register as soon as possible to reserve your seat www.schoolsofrealestate.com .

Requirements to Take the Exam:  You must be at least 18 years of age;  a high school graduate or equivalency; successful completion of the two required courses; PA State Police background check

The State Exam:  The exam must be scheduled through PSI Testing Center. The real estate courses prepare you to take the exam, which is given in two parts.  Both the general information and the state law sections must be passed with a minimum grade of 75% in order to apply for a license.  If you do not pass either part or both parts,  you may reschedule to take the exam in whole or in part again.

How do you activate your license?  After passing the real estate exam, you must affiliate yourself with a real estate broker, such as Weichert, Realtors.  There is an application process you must fulfill with the employing broker. The broker then applies for your license with the State Real Estate Commission on your behalf.
